
Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) are currently investigating a murder after the discovery of an unidentified male body off the Millennium Highway shoulder, Providenciales on Monday.
The male victim, is described as approximately 5' 08" feet tall with a slim build, weighing around 150-160 pounds. He appeared to be between the ages of 18 and 25. At the time of discovery, the victim was wearing black shorts with white stripes on one side and was barefooted. He had distinctive scars on his upper chest and a short haircut.
The RTCIPF says it is seeking the assistance of the public to positively identify the body, saying that anyone with information is urged to contact 911, the nearest police station, or call TCI Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477. The police assure that all information will be handled anonymously.
Preliminary information suggests that a call was made to the Police Control Room at around 6:58 a.m., alerting authorities to the presence of a lifeless male body on the roadside. RTCIPF officers promptly responded to the location and discovered the victim, who was bleeding and appeared to have suffered a head wound.
An autopsy was scheduled to be conducted Monday, to determine the precise cause of death. The police investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as more information becomes available.
