A magnificent 137 runs, decorated with 23 4s and three 6sby Ashton Byfield was not good enough secure victory for his team Kishco, which agonizingly lost by one run to Vibes in the Turks and Caicos Cricket Association’s Competition’s Provo League played at the downtown Ball Park on Sunday, October 16.

Vibes who won the toss and decided to take first knock, rattled up 206 for the loss of three wickets in 19 overs with Ricardo Brown, batting at number five, punching an unbeaten 78 runs, comprising nine fours and two 6s.

Delovin Hardware, batting at number three, scored an unbeaten 52. His innings was punctuated with four 4s and a 6.

Gareth Campbell smashed 36 before being caught. His innings were highlighted by seven 4s.

Kishco started out on a good footing, having dismissed the two Vibes openers Kevin Hinds and Ian Heath cheaply. Both bowlers were bowled by Vinod Panikar for 7 runs apiece.

Hinds was the first to go, bowled by Panikar in the first over, with the score on nine. Heath went in the second over, also bowled by Panikar with the score on 19.

Hardware replaced Hinds at the crease, while Campbell replaced Heath. However, with Campbell’s departure with the scored on 78, Brown walked to the crease and was in a no-nonsense mood. He made the bowlers toiled, punching the ball to almost every area of the ground.

Panikar was the pick of the Kishco bowlers, grabbing two for his three overs for 34 runs. Vibas Nair got the other wicket from his two overs bowled, which yielded 14 runs.

In their reply, Kishco made strong statement, with Byfield making the Vibes bowlers and fielders look ordinary. He his lusty blows to all corners or the field brought our cheers from the crowd gathered. The closest batting team mate to him was Ravi Kumar, who scored a 20.

However, with score on 188, Byfield fell to Robert ‘Johno’ Johnson by the LBW route. His dismissal injected hope back in the Vibes team. And with gone from the crease, Vibes was able to contain the Kishco Batsmen, preventing them from cross the line. Kisco ended at 205 for four.

Johnson was the pick of the Vibes bowlers, grabbing three wickets for 32 runs off his four overs. Heath grabbed the other wicket for 18 runs off three overs.
