In this week’s Voices from the Streets, I had the privilege of speaking with Kiaje Williams, an inspiring eighteen-year-old whose wisdom and passion for positive change are truly remarkable.

Kiaje is already making a meaningful impact in our community. He works as a front desk agent at Avis Car Rental and is also a gospel artist. With aspirations of becoming a lawyer or a law enforcement officer, Kiaje is driven by a deep belief in the power of communication. He shared that engaging in debates and conversations motivates him, as he sees dialogue as essential to building safer, stronger communities.

He lives by the affirmation, “Stay Up, God Blessed,” and believes that every person is created by God for a purpose. Understanding that divine purpose, he says, is key to living a meaningful life.

Kiaje expressed deep concern about the rise in gun violence and crime in our country. He emphasized the critical role of fathers, stating that their presence is more important now than ever. According to him, many of the issues facing young men today stem from a lack of proper guidance—guidance that fathers are uniquely positioned to provide. He called for more Godly fathers in our communities—men who are committed to preparing the next generation to embrace the responsibilities of fatherhood.

To young men, Kiaje offers this advice: immerse yourself in positive activities. He pointed out that many young fathers have not yet had the chance to fully experience life themselves. His message is clear—build your life and develop yourself before stepping into the serious role of fatherhood.

Kiaje also expressed gratitude for his own father and other male role models who have shaped him. He believes he would not be the responsible young man he is today without their influence.

His final encouragement to the youth was powerful: “Don’t try to fit in. Use the gifts and talents you were born with to build a Turks and Caicos Islands we can all be proud of. Build yourself so you can leave a rich legacy for future generations. No matter how hard it gets, you will make it—as long as you stay up and trust in God’s blessings.”

Kiaje’s message to the youths is a powerful and timely one. He is a shining example of the strength, purpose, and potential that lies within our youth. His voice is a reminder that age is no barrier to wisdom, and that leadership begins with a commitment to values, vision, and community.

As he continues to grow and inspire, Kiaje challenges all of us—especially young men—to rise above the noise, embrace their God-given purpose, and become builders of a brighter, safer Turks and Caicos Islands. His message is clear: with faith, guidance, and determination, we can all leave a legacy worth remembering. Stay Up God Blessed Kiaje!
