Football fans will be in for a treat from July 29 to August 2, when the TCIFA stages the Women’s FIFA Friendlies and Women’s Festival Playoffs, featuring the TCI, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands.
Six matches are scheduled to be played from the combined events. Under the banner of the Women’s FIFA Friendlies, the Cayman Islands will go up against the Bahamas on Thursday, July 29, in the 5 pm curtain-raiser. In the feature encounter beginning at 7:30 pm, the Turks and Caicos Islands will match skills against the British Virgin Islands.
The competition will continue Sunday, August 1 with the British Virgin Islands opposing the Cayman Islands at 5 pm, following by the Turks and Caicos Islands doing battle against the Bahamas at 7:30 pm.
The event continues Monday, August 2, with the Women’s Festival Playoffs, which will see the two teams with the smallest number of points facing off in the third-place playoff beginning at 5 pm. At 7:30 pm, the two teams with the most points will battle for top honours.
The TCI Football Association says the event will be closed to the general public. It says also that all Ministry of Health and COVID-19 protocols, such as the wearing of face masks on and off the field, social distancing, sanitizing and washing of hands, as well as temperature checks, will be enforced.
