B.E.S.T Institute’s Sydney Kay Brisbane Tops 2025 CPEA With 96.4 Percent

Twelve-year-old Sydney Kay Brisbane of B.E.S.T. Institute has emerged as the top-performing student in the 2025 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA), scoring an impressive 96.4%.
Her standout performance—dominating three of the four subject areas—caps off a year of strong academic results across the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The Ministry of Education, Youth, Sport and Culture today celebrated the overall success of this year’s CPEA candidates, highlighting that 419 out of 430 students (97%) achieved scores at or above the "Near Competent" threshold (41% and above). The exam, administered annually by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), marks a significant milestone in the academic journey of primary school students across the region.
Minister of Education Hon. Rachel Marshall Taylor praised the collective efforts of students, parents, and educators in reaching this year’s results.
“We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements in this year’s CPEA, Taylor said. “These outcomes speak to the resilience, commitment, and passion of all stakeholders in the education sector. As we continue to build strong foundations, we look forward to limitless futures for every child in our care.”
Performance Snapshot – CPEA 2025
97% of students scored at or above the Near Competent level.
65% (279 students) were rated Competent or Advanced Competent.
14% (60 students) achieved Advanced Competence—up 1% from 2024.
Mathematics continues to be a growth area, with 61% scoring 50% or higher.
Language (88%), Civics (82%), and Science (79%) reflected stronger performances at the 50%+ level.
Gender trends showed a slight female advantage in higher performance bands, though less pronounced than in 2024.

The 2025 CPEA Prize-Giving Ceremonies will begin on Monday, 30 June in Grand Turk at Yellowman & Sons Auditorium, followed by Tuesday, 1 July in South Caicos at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Wednesday, 2 July in North & Middle Caicos at Horse Stable Beach Community Centre, and conclude on Thursday, 3 July in Providenciales at the Gustarvus Lightbourne Sports Complex — all starting at 10:00 a.m. under the theme “Strong Foundations, Limitless Futures.”
