CrimeStoppers TCI Wins Prestigious CrimeStoppers International Award for Community Engagement and Awareness
Crimestoppers Turks and Caicos has won the Crimestoppers International Award for Community Engagement and Awareness, in recognition of its outstanding efforts to engage communities through its District Domino Tournaments, while promoting crime prevention and public safety throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The prestigious award was presented during the Crimestoppers International Awards Program in Panama City, Panama. President Lewis Smith and VP Clayton Thomas attended the event, which brought international recognition to the organization's ongoing commitment to strengthening partnerships between communities, law enforcement agencies, businesses and residents.
The Community Engagement and Awareness Award recognizes the impact of initiatives designed to encourage communities to take an active role in preventing and reporting crime, while promoting awareness, public participation and confidence in crime-prevention programs.
Crimestoppers Turks and Caicos has worked consistently to expand community involvement through initiatives including the annual Crimestoppers Walk, and the District Domino Tournament program, the P3 anonymous reporting platform and partnerships with stakeholders across the Islands.
President Smith expressed his appreciation for the international recognition.
“This award is historic and a tremendous honor for Crimestoppers Turks and Caicos, but more importantly, for the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands. It demonstrates that the work being done at the community level is making a meaningful difference.
“This achievement belongs to our volunteers, directors, community partners, law enforcement partners, sponsors and, most importantly, the members of our communities who continue to support our mission. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone understands that they have an important role to play in preventing and reporting crime.”
The award also recognizes the importance of anonymous crime reporting and community participation. Through Crimestoppers, members of the public are encouraged to provide information about criminal activity without having to identify themselves.
Smith said Crimestoppers Turks and Caicos remains committed to strengthening its presence throughout the Islands and developing innovative programs that bring crime prevention directly into communities.
He said the organization extends its sincere appreciation to the Governor’s Office, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, community organizations, businesses, sponsors, volunteers and residents whose continued support has contributed to this achievement.
He pointed out that the international award is a significant milestone for Crimestoppers Turks and Caicos and represents an opportunity to further strengthen its mission of engaging communities, raising awareness, encouraging anonymous reporting and contributing to safer communities throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands.
“Crimestoppers Turks and Caicos is proud to bring this international recognition home,” Smith pointed out.
