Danika Been Leads Premier’s Office Secretariat and Public Policy

Danika Been has been appointed Head of Secretariat in the Office of the Premier and Public, the Deputy Governor’s Office has announced.



Ms. Been holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance; an Associate Degree in Business Administration, majoring in Computer Programming; and a Certificate in Social and Economic Statistics.


She began her professional career in the Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Service in 1997 with the Department of Road Safety where she worked closely with programmers to develop the department’s first electronic database.


Ms. Been later moved to the Statistics Department where she quickly progressed to the post of Statistician. Whilst in this post, she worked with the team on the 2012 Census, as well as other areas concerning the National Accounts, the Yearbook of Statistics, the Pocket Digest and other areas of economic statistics.


In 2012, Ms. Been moved to the Ministry of Finance where she worked as the Personal Assistant to the Minister of Finance, Investment and Trade and worked with the Permanent Secretary of Finance as well.


During her time in the Ministry of Finance, she worked administratively with the TCI Ports Authority, the Blue Ribbon Commission (that sought alternative revenue streams to VAT), the Infrastructure Working Group and the International Finance Marketing and Promotion Working Group that reviewed the TCI’s financial services offerings to identify niche market services to enable the TCI to gain a competitive edge in the region.


In 2016, Ms. Been was transferred to the Leader of Opposition’s’ Office and in addition to her responsibilities as the Leader of Opposition’s’ Executive Administrator, Miss Been also worked as Assistant Clerk to the Public Accounts Committee and as an Assistant to the House of Assembly’s’ Administration Committee, as well as Assistant to Clerk for the Youth Parliament.

This senior position is responsible for coordinating the political and administrative interface between the Premier, Permanent Secretary and administrative functions in the Office of the Premier.

Denika is an ardent worker who has dedicated over 20 years of service to the public service of these islands.

This represents another well-deserved promotion in the public service by someone who is most deserving.
