DDME Strengthens Preparedness as Hurricane Melissa Approaches

ree

In anticipation of potential impacts from Hurricane Melissa, the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) has convened a strategic planning meeting with Dr. Virginia Clerveaux, Permanent Secretary in the Governor’s Office.

The session focused on reviewing readiness levels and coordinating key response efforts.

Acting Director Kevern De Bellot provided an in-depth briefing on the latest storm forecasts and critical updates as the system advances toward the region.

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has been partially activated to ensure that emergency activities are effectively organized before, during, and after the storm.

Serving as the central command hub, the NEOC oversees decision-making and facilitates communication among government agencies and response partners during major weather events.
