The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of former Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr Terrence Bent, as Assistant Commissioner of Police for Training and Development.

Dr Bent was officially sworn into office on Wednesday, July 1, during a ceremony before Her Excellency Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam. The occasion was attended by Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey, himself a former Deputy Commissioner of the JCF.
Also taking the oath of office was Alison Woods, who assumed the role of Inspector General.
As Assistant Commissioner, Dr Bent will be responsible for leading the RTCIPF's training and development agenda, with a focus on enhancing officer preparedness, strengthening professional standards and expanding capacity across the organisation to meet the evolving demands of modern policing.
The RTCIPF said Dr Bent brings more than three decades of policing experience, having served the Jamaica Constabulary Force for over 36 years in a number of senior leadership positions. His background includes extensive experience in police training, leadership development, operational planning and organisational transformation.
The force said the appointments are part of its ongoing efforts to build a modern, accountable and highly professional police service. Both positions were filled through an open and competitive recruitment process designed to attract experienced leaders capable of driving continued organisational development.
