Firearm Seized; Suspected Gunman At Large

A man previously wanted by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force for serious crimes managed to elude the long arm of the law once again on Sunday, but just after he ditched the car in which he engaged lawmen in a high-speed chase, leaving a gun and weed behind.

According to reports, at about 4:20 p.m., officers attached to the Tactical Unit, while patrolling in the Bight, Providenciales, saw a grey Toyota Vitz motorcar without a license plate. The driver, identified as wanted man Renardo Clarke, who had two passengers on board, was ordered to pull over but declined the request.

As a result, the police said a brief high-speed ensued until Clarke ditched the motorcar and bolted, leaving behind two males, who the police later identified as a 21-year-old and a 15-year-old boy.

The police then conducted a search of the vehicle, during which an illegal firearm along with a quantity of marijuana were found.

The police said Clarke remained at large, and investigators are asking that he turn himself in at the Grace Bay Police Station as soon as possible.

The police are also asking the public that if they have knowledge of his whereabouts to call 911 or Crime Stoppers on 1-800-8477 (TIPS).

It is unclear whether the other two occupants of the vehicle were charged.
