Government has announced a suspension of the Turks and Caicos Islander Status applications for the rest of the year.
The government declared, however, that spousal applications are exempt. The announcement was posted on the government’s Facebook Page.
The announcement stated that during the suspension period, Government would endeavor to clear the backlog, while seek to conduct a review of the system.
The statement declares:
“Members of the public are reminded that in accordance with section 5(1) of the Turks and Caicos Islander Status (Amendment) Ordinance 2021, the submission of applications for the grant of Islander status for persons other than for the spouse of an Islander, made under section 5(1)(b) of the Immigration Ordinance, is suspended for the year 2022 pending a review of the legislation and the clearing of the backlog of applications received in previous years.”
