Illegal Firearm Recovered During Police Search

Police have recovered a loaded handgun hidden beneath a storage container in Grace Bay as investigations continue into the discovery.

According to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF), officers responded to a location on Grace Bay Road at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23.
During a search of the area, officers found a black sock concealed beneath a 40-foot storage container. Further examination revealed the sock contained a .45 calibre pistol loaded with five live rounds of ammunition.
The Forensics Support Branch processed the scene and safely secured the firearm.
No arrests have been made in connection with the recovery, and investigations remain ongoing.
Police said the latest seizure brings the total number of illegal firearms recovered across the Turks and Caicos Islands so far this year to six, comprising four pistols and two rifles.
The recoveries include:
Two firearms recovered along the Leeward Highway
One recovered in Grace Bay
One recovered in the Lower Bight
One recovered in Blue Hills
One recovered in Grand Turk
During the same period in 2025, police recovered eight illegal firearms, including six pistols and two rifles.
The RT&CIPF is urging anyone with information about the location of illegal firearms or individuals involved in their possession, trafficking or use to contact the nearest police station, call 911, or report information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 or via the P3 Tips mobile app.
