Man Found Dead Following Five Cays Shooting; Police Launch Investigation

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) has launched an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in Five Cays on Friday evening, June 12.

According to a police media release issued on Saturday, officers were dispatched to the area behind Liz Baker in Five Cays shortly after 8:00 p.m. following reports of loud explosions believed to be gunfire.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive man suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

A medical doctor later attended the scene, examined the victim, and officially pronounced him dead at approximately 10:00 p.m.

Detectives attached to the Serious Crime Unit have since commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which remain under active review.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the shooting or who possess information that could assist investigators to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact their nearest police station, call 911, or reach the Serious Crime Unit directly at 231-1842. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 or via the Crime Stoppers P3 mobile application.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by authorities pending further investigations and notification of next of kin.
