Cabinet has recently approved the appointment of Miquel Swann to lead the ongoing transition of the TCI Tourist Board into the Destination Management Organization (DMO).
This appointment was effective from 16 March 2023.
Swann’s responsibilities will include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the TCI Tourist Board, the onboarding of the new entity and providing regular updates and reports to Cabinet on the progress of the transition.
On this appointment Premier Hon. C. Washington Misick said: “As we move toward a more comprehensive framework for destination marketing and management, it is important that we utilize the skillset of our civil servants. I have confidence Mr. Swann will be an effective change manager and I look forward to his contributions in this role.”
Minister of Tourism, Hon. Josephine Connolly stated, “the transition of the Tourist Board into the Destination Management Organization and Tourism Regulatory Department is time sensitize and the decision of the Cabinet to appoint Deputy Secretary Swann is in keeping with our mandate to ensure an effective and timely process.
“We believe the appointment of Mr. Swann to this role will further strengthen the Board and the Ministry’s ability to effectively and smoothly complete this transition.”
Clara Gardiner, Chair of the Tourist Board, commenting on Swann’s appointment said: “I am happy to welcome Mr. Swann as Temporary Director of the Tourist Board.

The Destination Management Organisation, once the transition is complete, will see the continuation of the marketing and promotion of the Turks and Caicos Islands tourism product.
