Minister Saunders Leads TCI’s Digital Future at High-Level AI Workshop in Anguilla

Hon. E. Jay Saunders, Minister for Innovation, Technology and Energy, successfully participated in a landmark Regional Artificial Intelligence (AI) Workshop held at the Anguilla House of Assembly in Anguilla, from 21–24 June 2026.

According to the Ministry of Innovation, Technology and Energy, Saunders’s engagement in this high‑level forum reaffirms the Turks and Caicos Islands commitment to advancing technological innovation and strengthening regional collaboration in the rapidly evolving field of AI.

The workshop convened parliamentarians, digital governance leaders, and technology experts from across the Caribbean, with participation from CPA UK, UNESCO, ParlAmericas, the Government and National Assembly of Anguilla, regional delegations, and private‑sector innovators including Evoluut.ai. Discussions centred on regional readiness for AI, ethical governance, and digital transformation.

Minister Saunders served as a featured speaker in the 1st session “Application of AI in Parliament,” where he outlined how AI can enhance accessibility, casework, public engagement, and legislative efficiency. He emphasized the importance of building future‑ready, resilient institutions in the Turks and Caicos Islands to ensure AI adoption supports national development, public trust, and effective oversight.

Anguilla, home to the global .ai domain, provided a fitting backdrop for in‑depth dialogue on the rapid rise of AI and its implications for legislation, cybersecurity, data governance, misinformation, and public accountability. Delegates engaged in expert presentations, peer‑learning exchanges, and practical case studies, including a review of Evoluut.ai work supporting parliamentary functions such as transcription and digital engagement.

The workshop strengthened regional understanding of AI opportunities and risks, expanded professional networks, and supported the development of national frameworks for responsible AI governance. Minister Saunders’ participation underscored the Turks and Caicos Islands dedication to innovation and ethical technology adoption.

Minister Saunders added, “AI is reshaping every aspect of society. As leaders, we must ensure our governance frameworks evolve just as quickly, ethically, responsibly, and with people at the centre. My participation and attendance at the workshop ensure that the Turks and Caicos Islands has a seat the table when decisions are being made about AI in the Caribbean, especially its use in Parliaments.
