Police Vessel Damaged in Explosion During Refuelling at Turtle Tail Marina

News Release


The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force can confirm that at approximately 2:29 p.m. today, an incident occurred involving a Police Marine Branch vessel, Sea Protector 2, while it was being refueled at Turtle Tail Marina.

Preliminary information indicates that an explosion occurred on an area near the vessel’s stern deck, resulting in damage limited to that section of the boat. No injuries have been reported.


Marine Branch personnel responded immediately, and an initial assessment is underway. Officers from the Forensic Support Unit have also been dispatched to examine the scene and assist with the investigation into the cause of the incident.


At this time, there is no indication of any threat to the public. The matter remains under active investigation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
