The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) has launched full-scale investigations into two separate shooting incidents today that have left multiple individuals injured and forced the temporary suspension of hospital visitations.
Kew Town Shooting: Four Men Injured
At approximately 6:14 p.m., the Police Control Room received an emergency report of gunfire in the Kew Town area of Providenciales. A swift police response followed, with additional reports confirming the sound of multiple gunshots near Betty Shop.
Two male victims with gunshot wounds were transported to a medical facility by private means shortly after the incident. Police officers responding at the scene discovered a third victim, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Further investigation led officers to Pete Court, where a fourth male victim was found with a gunshot wound to the foot and was also taken for medical treatment.
All four victims are currently receiving emergency care for their injuries. The extent of their conditions has not been disclosed.
South Caicos Shooting: Elderly Man Wounded
Earlier in the day, shortly after noon, police were alerted to a separate firearm incident in South Caicos. A 71-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the left thigh and is also undergoing medical treatment.
In response, specialized units from the RTCIPF—including Forensics, Tactical, and Serious Crime Investigations—were deployed to South Caicos to support ongoing investigations and strengthen police presence on the island.
Hospital Visitations Suspended
As a precautionary measure and to ensure patient and staff safety, hospital authorities have suspended all non-essential visitations until further notice. The public is being advised to avoid hospital premises unless seeking emergency care.
Public Urged to Assist Investigations
Both shooting incidents remain under active investigation by the RTCIPF's Serious Crime Unit. Authorities are appealing to members of the public for assistance in identifying those responsible.
