TCI CARIFTA Swimmers Depart For Regional Championships

The National Swimming Team of the Turks and Caicos Islands departed on Tuesday, April 4th for Curacao to compete in the CARIFTA Aquatic Championships 2023.

On hand at the Providenciales International Airport to wish the team well were Minister of Youth Sports and Culture Hon Rachel Taylor, the Director of the TCI Sports Commission, Mr. Jarrett Forbes, and President of the Swim Federation Daniel Redmond.

This year sets a new benchmark with the largest number of swimmers and team officials attending the annual event. Additionally, this year's team will feature the highest level of participation in the relay events and two first time appearances in the Open Water events.

The 14 swimmers will be marshalled by Head Coach Mr. Ezekiel Hall, Assistant Coach Lenin Hamilton, Open Water Coach Bennett Williams, Team Manager Mrs. Latika Davis, and chaperone Aleigha Hall.


While the opening ceremony was held on Wednesday, April 5, and the first day of swimming for the athletes was scheduled for Thursday, April 6.
