18 coed teams and seven girls’ teams to participate in November tournament

The Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) is preparing to kick off an expanded 2026 Inter-Primary School Football Competition, with the introduction of a dedicated girls’ division marking a significant milestone in the development of youth football across the islands.

This year's competition will feature 18 coed teams alongside seven teams competing in the newly established girls’ division, providing more young athletes with opportunities to showcase their football talents while representing their respective schools.

The tournament will run from November 7 to 28, 2026, with an official opening ceremony scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at 9 a.m. at the TCIFA National Academy on Venetian Road in Providenciales.

The introduction of the girls’ division represents an important step forward in promoting greater female participation in football at the primary school level.

The initiative is expected to create additional opportunities for young girls to develop their technical abilities, gain valuable competitive experience and build confidence on the football field.

Beyond the excitement of competition, the tournament will provide a platform for young players to develop teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and leadership skills.

The expanded competition also highlights the TCIFA's continued efforts to strengthen grassroots football and encourage greater participation among young athletes throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands.

By introducing a separate girls’ division, the association is helping to establish a stronger foundation for the future development of women's football, while ensuring that aspiring female footballers have opportunities to participate in organised competitions from an early age.

The tournament is also expected to bring together participating schools, teachers, parents and football supporters in a celebration of youth sporting talent.

The TCIFA is encouraging the wider community and local media to support the competition, celebrate the achievements of participating schools and players, and help raise awareness of the growing opportunities available in youth football.

With 25 teams set to participate across the two divisions, the 2026 Inter-Primary School Football Competition promises to be an exciting showcase of emerging talent, school pride and the continued growth of football in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

As preparations continue for the November 7 opening ceremony, attention will turn to the young footballers who will take to the field, eager to represent their schools and make their mark on the competition.

The tournament will conclude on November 28, bringing to an end three weeks of primary school football action.

The introduction of the girls’ division stands out as one of the competition's most significant developments, signalling a new chapter for grassroots football and greater opportunities for the next generation of female players in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
