The Turks and Caicos Islands Bar Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Barbara Jervis as Head of the Bar Association Secretariat, effective 1 March 2026.

The appointment marks an important step in strengthening the administrative capacity and institutional structure of the Bar Association as the legal profession in the Turks and Caicos Islands continues to grow and evolve.
The Secretariat has been established to support the work of the Bar Council and the wider membership by providing dedicated administrative coordination, improved communication with members, and enhanced support for the Association’s professional and institutional activities.
In her role, Dr. Jervis will assist the Bar Council in several key areas, including coordination of Bar Council meetings and records, support for professional development initiatives and continuing legal education programmes, organisation of Bar Association events and activities, and assistance with membership administration and committee coordination.
Speaking on the appointment, Bar Council President Mark A. Fulford noted that the establishment of the Secretariat reflects the Council’s commitment to strengthening the institutional framework of the Association.
“The growth of the legal profession in the Turks and Caicos Islands requires strong and well-supported professional institutions. The establishment of a Secretariat is an important step in ensuring that the work of the Bar Association is organised, responsive, and able to effectively serve both the profession and the wider administration of justice in the Turks and Caicos Islands.”
The Secretariat will also support the coordination of the Association’s strategic initiatives, including professional training, member engagement, and collaboration with key stakeholders within the justice sector.
Dr. Jervis commenced her role on 1 March 2026, and members of the profession will have the opportunity to meet her at upcoming Bar Association activities, including the Annual General Meeting later this month.
The Bar Council welcomes Dr. Jervis to the role and looks forward to the contribution the Secretariat will make to strengthening the work and service of the Association.
