Woman Dies, Three Children Injured in Leeward Highway Collision

A woman has died and three children were injured following a two-vehicle collision along Leeward Highway earlier today, according to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF).

Police say the Traffic Enforcement Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, which occurred in the vicinity of Central Square on Leeward Highway.

Shortly after 11 a.m., the Police Control Room received a report of a traffic accident in the area. At the time of the initial call, the extent of injuries was not known.


Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Fire Department personnel and medical responders attended and determined that four individuals had sustained injuries, including one adult female and three children.


Police confirmed that the female adult succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The three injured children, aged 3, 7, and 8, were transported by ambulance to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre for treatment.

Authorities are advising motorists travelling along Leeward Highway to exercise caution and use alternative routes where possible as emergency responders continue their work in the area.


Police say further updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
