Youth in Action: Rotaract Club of Grand Turk Driving Change in Grand Turk

The Rotaract Club of Grand Turk is continuing to make a measurable impact across the island, with a strong lineup of initiatives carried out during the third and fourth quarters of its service year.

Focusing on community needs, the club partnered with the Premier Arts Collective and a local non-profit organisation to package and distribute more than 150 care bags filled with essential food and hygiene items to residents across Grand Turk, helping to address food insecurity.

Health and social awareness were also prioritised through the club’s “HANWASH for Hope” initiative, which targeted period poverty by providing sanitary supplies to students at the H.J. Robinson High School. The effort aimed to support students’ well-being, confidence, and school attendance.

Environmental sustainability efforts extended beyond Grand Turk through the Salt Cay Sustainability Project, a collaboration with Pelican Energy Ltd. And members of the Salt Cay community. The initiative saw the donation and painting of waste bins, encouraging proper waste disposal and environmental responsibility.

Youth development remained central to the club’s mission. A hands-on DIY Workshop engaged children ages 5 -12 in creative building activities alongside their parents, promoting teamwork, problem-solving, and skill development in a fun, supportive environment.

On February 28th, the Rotaract Club of Grand Turk joined forces with the Bible Study Ministry’s Youth in Action and other youth groups to host its first “Play for Peace” event. The initiative focused on conflict resolution, featuring interactive breakout sessions on inner peace, peace at home, and digital well-being, along with music and art therapy elements that encouraged expressions and dialogue.

Closing out the quarter, the Club hosted a Corporate Wellness Fitness Scavenger Hunt on 11 April 2026. The island-wide event brought together corporate teams to promote fitness, teamwork, and community engagement. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the club’s upcoming “Prep a Child for School” Initiative.

“These past two quarters have truly shown the power of collaboration and youth leadership,” said Nia Jones, President of the Rotaract Club of Grand Turk. “From supporting families in need to empowering young people and promoting sustainability, our goal has always been to create meaningful, lasting impact. We are proud of what we have accomplished, but even more excited for what’s ahead as we continue serving our community.”

These efforts reflect the Rotaract Club of Grand Turk’s continued commitment to service, leadership, and community impact, demonstrating how youth-driven initiatives can create lasting change across the island.
