The event, held on Andaz’ 5.5-acre property, was attended by a diverse group of individuals, including politicians, legal professionals, and members of the real estate industry. The Andaz Turks and Caicos at Grace Bay is set to become the second branded luxury resort in the country, following in the footsteps of the Ritz Carlton.

This seven-storey development is scheduled to open its doors to guests in late 2025, offering a total of 59 exclusive hotel rooms and 74 sale residences. The resort will boast a wide range of amenities, including full indoor and outdoor spas, an indoor fitness studio, an outdoor garden, a tennis court, a kids' activity club, paddle boarding and sailing facilities, as well as four restaurants and four bars.

The groundbreaking ceremony received a warm welcome from all attendees, including key figures from the political landscape.

Developer Matt McDonald expressed his gratitude to the Turks and Caicos Islands Government, particularly the Physical Planning Department, for its support in bringing this project to fruition.

McDonald emphasized that the Andaz brand is all about personal style, and the developers are committed to enhancing the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Thierry Guillot, Senior Vice President of Operations for Latin America and the Caribbean at Hyatt Hotels Corporation, the managing entity for the Andaz brand, noted that while this will not be the first Hyatt hotel in the country, it will be the first Andaz property in the Caribbean. He also mentioned that there are 30 Andaz properties worldwide, with 13 in the Americas.

Deputy Governor Her Excellency emphasized that the long-awaited groundbreaking for the resort was worth the wait, as Andaz is a renowned global brand that will add a touch of luxury to the country. She highlighted that the focus for the Turks and Caicos Islands is not merely to construct rooms but to create a sustainable tourism product.

Home Affairs Minister Hon. Otis Morris described the groundbreaking as a momentous occasion, signifying a significant step forward for the Turks and Caicos Islands and a commitment to excellence and innovation in the hospitality industry. He emphasized that the event was about creating lasting memories and remarkable experiences for visitors and guests and underlined the potential for Andaz to contribute to the local economy and provide employment opportunities.

Minister of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development Hon. Jamell Robinson mentioned that the Turks and Caicos Islands were currently hosting the State of Tourism Conference (SOTC) and expressed the hope that future conference delegates would have the opportunity to stay at the Andaz Turks and Caicos. Robinson described the resort as a testament to innovation, elegance, and unparalleled luxury, setting new standards in the hospitality industry.

Regency Christies International Real Estate, managed locally by Walter Gardiner and Robert Greenwood, will be responsible for selling the property. Gardiner commended the government for its forward-thinking approach in attracting quality developers and investors, allowing the project to come to fruition under the Washington Misick administration.
