The Royal Turks and Caicos Island Police Force has charged a suspect, arrested last week, after being allegedly caught with a gun.
He is identified as 31-year-old Andre De Souza of Blue Hills. He has been slapped with two offences - carrying of a firearm and carrying of ammunition. The charged were leveled against him on Monday of this week.
According to police report, De Souza was arrested on October 06th , at about 9.45 am, when the Response and Operations Unit intercepted a car along Airport Road in the vicinity of Alice & Alice Plaza.
De Souza was identified as a person of interest in gang-related serious criminal activities.
“Despite the charges, De Souza remains under active police investigation for suspected gang related activities and other criminal offences,” a statement from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force stated.
The public is being advised to notify the closest police station or to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 and give any information of illegal activity anonymously.
