Gun, Cocaine Seized in the Bight; Two arrested

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) continues to intensify its operations against organized criminal networks following two decisive Tactical Unit operations that resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs, a loaded firearm, and ammunition.
On Friday, February 20, 2026, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Tactical Unit officers were on mobile patrol in the Lower Bight, when they observed a group of men gathered on the patio of a concrete structure. Upon noticing the marked police vehicle, the men dispersed in multiple directions.
Officers pursued the men, where a 21-year-old male known to police was detained, and searched, during the search, officers recovered a pistol, along with a magazine containing several rounds of ammunition. The male occupant was arrested and remains in custody.
On Monday, February 23, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers were conducting targeted patrols in the Kingston area, during which they observed a male who fled upon seeing them.
A subsequent search of the surrounding area led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of packaged marijuana and cocaine.
Superintendent Jason James, who heads the Unit, commended officers for their vigilance and operational effectiveness.
“The Tactical Unit’s arrest of a male in possession of a loaded firearm, along with this significant drug seizure, demonstrates the exceptional determination of our officers to deter, disrupt, and dismantle organized criminal networks operating within our islands.
“Their professionalism and courage in the face of hostility reflect the wider Force’s unwavering resolve to protect our communities and uphold the rule of law. We will not allow organized criminal groups to threaten the peace and security of the Turks and Caicos Islands.”
