Health Ministry Provides Update on TCI Patients in Colombia Following Earthquake

The Ministry of Health and Human Services (MOHHS), in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Board (NHIB), is closely monitoring the situation in Colombia following the recent earthquake, with particular attention to Turks and Caicos Islands patients currently receiving medical care in the country.

The Ministry and NHIB have been in contact with healthcare providers in Colombia to ascertain the status and wellbeing of our patients and to ensure that appropriate measures remain in place for their continued safety and care.

Based on information received to date, healthcare facilities caring for TCI patients continue to follow their established emergency and safety protocols. Relevant assessments have also been undertaken following the earthquake, and MOHHS and NHIB continue to liaise with the respective providers regarding any developments that may impact our patients.

We understand the concern of families and members of the wider community who have loved ones currently receiving medical treatment in Colombia. The safety and wellbeing of our patients remain a priority, and we will continue to work closely with our healthcare partners in Colombia to monitor the situation and ensure that any concerns are addressed promptly.
