Legionella Detected at Three Degrees Building in Grand Turk
The Ministry of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development wishes to provide an update on the temporary closure of the Three Degrees Building in Grand Turk and the ongoing efforts to ensure its safe reopening.

Following initial environmental assessments, Legionella bacteria were detected in the building's water system. In response, the building's landlord, working in close coordination with the Public Works Department (PWD) and Environmental Health Department (EHD), undertook remedial measures, including flushing and chemical disinfection of the water system.
These remedial works have been completed, and post-remediation water samples were collected on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, and submitted for laboratory analysis. The Ministry is awaiting the results of this testing to determine whether the building can safely reopen.
The health, safety and well-being of government employees and members of the public remain the Ministry's foremost priorities. Accordingly, staff will not return to the building until the testing results have been reviewed and the appropriate safety clearance has been obtained.

To ensure the continued delivery of essential public services, the following departments are operating from alternative locations during the temporary closure:
Government Department Temporary Location

Registrar General's Office………….....Ministry of Home Affairs Headquarters,

The Ministry appreciates the patience and cooperation of affected employees and members of the public and remains committed to providing timely and transparent updates as the necessary safety assessments are finalised.
A further announcement will be made once the required clearance has been obtained and a reopening date will be communicated.
