The Office of the Deputy Governor has announced that Miquel Swann has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Office of the Premier and Public Policy.
According to the Deputy Governor’s Office, Swann holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and has over 10 years of experience in leadership roles in both the financial services and hospitality & tourism sectors.
The Deputy Governor’s Office said that he joins the civil service after his most recent role as the Director of Guest Services at Grace Bay Club, where he helped the resort to maintain and achieve numerous designations, including the coveted Forbes Travel Guide rating and the Fine Hotels and Resorts with American Express designation.
Swann, according to Deputy Governor’s Office, is completing his Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Texas and later plans to complete a post-graduate degree in Policy Development and Public Administration.
“It is with a humble heart that I assume the role of Deputy Permanent Secretary within the Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Service,” Swann said. “The chance to serve one’s country is not afforded to everyone, so I do not take this opportunity lightly.
“In my role, I will serve within the Office of the Premier and Public Policy. My core responsibilities include the oversight of the administrative functions within the office; the management and evolution of government protocol; the creation of diaspora services; the operations at our London office; leading on the development of key policies that will revolutionize the way government does business; and playing an integral part in making the lives of Turks and Caicos Islanders better.”
“I believe my unique background has prepared me for the task ahead and it will help to bring fresh perspective to my role as well as add to the already, strong, and capable senior leadership team of the civil service.
“My solemn promise is to serve our nation with pride, integrity and a spirit of excellence; doing my best to maintain and elevate the standards of the Office of the Premier and all other functions assigned to me throughout my service.”
