National Record Set on Day 2 of CARIFTA Trials

Day 2 of the CARIFTA Track and Field trials saw one record tumble. The new record was set in the Girls Under 17 high jump by 15 year old Tanesia Gardiner who leapt to a height of 1.68m. The leap was not only a high school record but a senior national one.

Speaking with NewslineTCI, Gardiner was elated to achieve such feat. She pointed out that she wanted to continue jumping but sustained an ankle injury. Going into the final she said she felt very confident she would win but never had breaking the record on her mind. The CARIFTA Track and Field Championships is scheduled to take place between August 13 and 15 in Bermuda.
