The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force is actively investigating two reports involving the discharging of firearms.
At 9:25 am today, a male victim reported to officers at the Grand Turk Police Station that while driving in Over Back, Grand Turk, someone pointed a firearm and fired a shot in his direction. The victim escaped injury.
At 7:55 pm on Monday, 12th February, the Police Control Room received a call of gunshots in Over Back Grand Turk. Officers were dispatched to the location where the scene was processed.
Based on investigations, no injuries were reported.
Commenting on both incidents, acting Commissioner of Police Christopher Eyre said: “Acts of violence have no place in our society. The RTCIPF are fully committed to bringing those responsible to justice. We are increasing patrols and implementing measures to augment the strength of officers in Grand Turk to prevent further acts of lawlessness.
“We are actively working to investigate these matters thoroughly and swiftly, and our officers are diligently following all leads and utilising all available resources to apprehend the perpetrators.
“I urge anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and assist us in our investigation. Your cooperation is crucial in helping us hold accountable those who seek to harm others.”
In the meantime, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force is asking the public to notify the closest police station, contact 911, the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, and anonymously give any information.
