In a statement issued Saturday, the Office of the Premier said the revised structure formally reassigns several departments and statutory bodies under existing ministries, while also adjusting ministerial oversight.

One of the most notable changes is the redesignation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Religious Affairs and Transportation. The ministry will now be known simply as the Ministry of Home Affairs and will oversee functions including the Registrar General’s Office, Citizenship and Naturalization, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and district administrations in North Caicos, South Caicos, Middle Caicos and Salt Cay.

Temporary oversight of that ministry has been assigned to Deputy Premier Jamell Robinson.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Safety and Utilities has been retitled the Ministry of Public Safety, Gender and Religious Affairs and Social Welfare.

That expanded portfolio will now include Postal Services, the Department of Correctional Services, Fire and Rescue, the Department of Community Support and Engagement, the Department of Rehabilitation and Community Services, the Department of Family and Children Services, Civil Aviation Authority, Air Traffic Licensing Authority and the Telecommunications Commission.

As part of the reshuffle, the appointment of Hon. Shaun David Malcolm as Minister of Home Affairs, Religious Affairs and Transportation has been revoked. He has been reassigned as Minister for Public Safety, Gender and Religious Affairs and Social Welfare.

The government also announced that the Ministry of Innovation, Technology and Energy will assume responsibility for the Water Undertaking Department, in addition to its current remit.

That ministry will continue to be led by Hon. E. Jay Saunders.

According to the Office of the Premier, the changes take effect immediately and are designed to improve coordination among ministries, align portfolios with government priorities, and enhance the responsiveness of public services.

Officials said the transition will be implemented under an approved framework aimed at ensuring a smooth and coordinated rollout.
