Salt Rakers Shine at Open Water Competition in Grace Bay

The Salt Rakers Aquatic Club delivered another standout event on Saturday, March 28, 2026, hosting a highly successful Open Water Competition at Rickie’s Flamingo Café in the heart of Grace Bay, Providenciales.

 

Set against the backdrop of turquoise waters and clear skies, the competition brought together swimmers of all ages and skill levels for a morning of spirited racing, sportsmanship, and community engagement. From seasoned competitors to emerging young talent, participants embraced the challenge of open water swimming in one of the country’s most scenic locations.

 

The 2K race proved to be one of the highlights of the day, with Lex Olorenshaw producing a strong and consistent performance to claim first place. Amanda D’Cruz followed closely to secure second, while Katie McCully rounded out the podium with a solid third-place finish.

 

In the 1K event, Jabri Remsey showcased impressive endurance and pacing to take top honours. Mark Kanzler delivered a competitive swim to finish second, with Christopher Novak placing third after a determined effort in the closing stretch.

 

The 500m race featured an exciting display of speed and technique, as Gabrielle Martin surged ahead to capture first place. Ethan Williams continued his strong showing on the day by finishing second, while Daniel Martin secured third position.

 

Short-distance excitement came in the 100m sprint, where Michael Martin powered his way to first place in a fast-paced contest. Ethan Williams added another podium finish with second place, and Darwin Ganasan completed the top three with a commendable performance.

 


Beyond the results, the event highlighted the strength and unity of the local swimming community. The Salt Rakers Aquatic Club extended sincere appreciation to all participants, including Katie McCully, Christopher Novak, Kebbie Brown, Jasan Brown, Amanda D’Cruz, Candi Storey, Mark Kanzler, Joanne Hopkins, Mark Julie, Paul Julie, Lex Olorenshaw, Akeen Jones, Darwin Ganasan, Grain Muthcruil, Ethan Williams, Gabrielle Martin, Daniel Martin, Michael Martin, Samuel Martin, and Isabelle Martin.

 

Organizers also acknowledged the invaluable support of families, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to the smooth execution of the competition. Their presence and encouragement added to the vibrant atmosphere and helped make the event both memorable and rewarding for all involved.

 

With another successful competition completed, the Salt Rakers Aquatic Club continues to play a vital role in promoting aquatic sports and fostering talent across the Turks and Caicos Islands.
