Fulham announced that the versatile 18-year-old midfielder will initially join the club’s Under-21 squad.

“It feels amazing to sign for Fulham,” Zaidan-Jones told the club’s website. “It’s the type of thing you dream of when you’re a little kid.

“Getting the opportunity to come here and play the game that I love, I couldn’t be any happier.

“When I’m on the field, you’ll see creativity, technical ability and somebody who will work hard for the team and the club.

“This season, I want to contribute as much as I can for the Under-21s, and hopefully that can lead to getting a shot in the first team.”

Born in New York, Zaidan-Jones moved to the Turks and Caicos Islands at a young age, and his family continues to call the territory home.

He has made two appearances for the Turks and Caicos Islands senior national team and has represented the country four times at Under-17 level. He is also eligible to play internationally for England and Canada.

Zaidan-Jones spent a week on trial at Fulham’s Motspur Park training ground last summer. During that period, he played the full 90 minutes in a 3-2 preseason victory over Charlton Athletic Under-21s.

He subsequently returned to the United States to complete his studies before rejoining Fulham at the beginning of preseason.

The midfielder featured in several friendly matches and scored against Gil Vicente Under-23s, Hampton & Richmond Borough and Charlton Under-21s.

Although his preferred position is as a number 10, Zaidan-Jones demonstrated his versatility during preseason by also playing at left-back and on both wings.

He could make his competitive debut when Fulham’s Under-21s visit Aldershot Town on Tuesday, August 18, with kickoff scheduled for 7:45 p.m.

Dane Ritchie, Technical Director of the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association, welcomed the signing and praised Zaidan-Jones’ dedication.

“This is something that is to be celebrated,” Ritchie said. “Maddox has been with us for a while, coming through the youth ranks, so it is fabulous to see him make the transition and sign with such a big club.

“He has worked hard and is one of those players who dedicated a lot of time to individual work. He has invested greatly in himself, and it is good to see him finally reap the rewards.

“It is not all credit to the association. His personal drive made this possible. I am really happy for him and wish him all the best for his future at Fulham.”

Ritchie said Zaidan-Jones has primarily played in midfield for the national programme but has also been deployed as a striker.
