Spate of Armed Robberies Sparks Intense Police Investigation in Providenciales

The Serious Crime Unit in Providenciales is actively investigating three separate armed robberies, prompting increased police presence and a call for community collaboration.


The latest incident, which occurred around 10:02 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2024, when police received reports of a robbery at a business establishment along Millennium Highway. Three armed men targeted a female victim, who was entering her vehicle after alighting from the Chances Casino. The woman was robbed at gunpoint by the three gun-toting men of cash and valuables.

 

In the second incident, a male victim reported being robbed at gunpoint near Dock Yard by five men at 2:45 a.m. on Friday, while a female victim disclosed a similar incident on Sunday.

 

The police said they are working diligently to apprehend the perpetrators and address the growing concern for public safety.

 

Speaking specifically about the casino parking lot robbery, Superintendent Dean Holden urged anyone with information or who may have been in the vicinity to come forward, highlighting the existence of video footage circulating about the incident.



Superintendent Holden, who expressing deep concern over the recent armed robberies, emphasized the priority placed on the safety and security of law-abiding citizens. He said the police force has committed to intensifying patrols and monitoring suspicious activities.

He said collaboration with local businesses and community members is deemed crucial in addressing the issue effectively.


Holden urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious behavior. He said the community's cooperation is essential in overcoming the challenge posed by these criminal activities. He added that the commitment to justice is unwavering, and appealed to the public to prioritize their safety by staying informed and taking necessary precautions.


The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) said it is actively seeking information from the public. Individuals are encouraged to notify the closest police station, contact 911, or reach out to the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842.
