As this year’s Junior Achievement TCI Company Program gains momentum, the eight companies made up of Achievers from various schools across Turks & Caicos are tapping into the wealth of knowledge and experience available to them within the corporate community.
In a training day exercise hosted by Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort, the budding entrepreneurs were provided education on the guiding principles that will be the bedrock of their businesses. Virtual access to the training sessions was provided for Achievers outside of Providenciales.
Mr. Drexwell Seymour, best-selling author, and partner at HLB, illuminated the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, sharing from his own experiences, while guiding Achievers on ways to navigate the challenges that will inevitably face them.
Mr. Darron Hilaire, Jr., Marketing Executive at FLOW TCI, gave the teens strategies for the implementation of important marketing and sales techniques to give presence to their brands, and to engage and entice prospective customers.
Sharing on Financial Literacy, Mr. Samuel Dormeus walked the group through the fundamental components to keeping a business financially ethical and viable.
The Achievers and Mentors shared that the afternoon was illuminating and provided exactly what the companies needed to equip them on their business journeys. Director Angela Musgrove echoed those sentiments, adding that “with each piece added to the overall scope of the program, our Achievers become even more excited and energized. We were thrilled to have these gentlemen share their expertise, and we are encouraged by the community’s eagerness to support the program. We also thank both Beaches Resort and The Sands for hosting us over the last two weekends. Our sponsors are the reason we are positioned to have a successful year, and their investment in our teens is invaluable and truly appreciated.”
Following the training day, the parents of the Achievers were hosted for a Meet and Greet event at The Sands on Grace Bay. The cocktail reception provided an opportunity for parents to engage with the organization’s advisors, gleaning more information and a deeper understanding of the program and its impact.
The weekly group meetings between the companies and their mentors continue. We encourage the Turks & Caicos community to plan to attend the December 4th Opening Showcase. Updates will be provided through news outlets and Junior Achievement Turks & Caicos social media platforms.
