TCI Registers 31st COVID-19 Related Death

The Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital said it was saddened to announce the country’s 31st COVID-19 related death.


The latest death, an elderly patient with chronic medical conditions passed away at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre in Providenciales on Monday, January 17th, 2022, the Inter-Health Canada-run TCI Hospital reported.


The TCI Hospital said the patient had been fully vaccinated but did not take a booster jab.


“The patient had received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine but had not yet received a booster dose. The next of kin have been notified,” a news release from the TCI Hospital said.


“The Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital and the Ministry of Health and Human Services wish to extend our deepest condolences to the grieving family and friends on the unfortunate loss of their loved one,” the news release added.


In the meantime, the Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital and the Ministry of Health are reminding the public to practice the relevant public health measures to suppress the spread of COVID-19.


“If you have symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, please take all safety precautions and stay at home unless you are seeking to take a COVID-19 test.


“For further information, please contact the Ministry of Health COVID-19 Hotlines on 232-9444 or 333-0911.


“If your symptoms are severe, please call 911. All persons are encouraged to strongly consider taking the COVID19 vaccine and if eligible, the booster shot,” the release said.
