The Ministry of Physical Planning, Infrastructure and Development (PPID) announced that the Temporary Employment Program is well underway in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The primary focus of this program is to provide a means of access to meaningful employment for all who are unemployed and seeking employment in the works and construction industry.
The program is extended to include persons with previous convictions, and require registration with the Chance for Change program, managed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Hon Akierra Missick, Minister of PPID said: “We have been diligently working to establish and implement the Temporary Employment Program, under the Public Works Department. We are excited that the communities of Salt Cay and Five Cays are ready to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the Program.
“We also confirm that we are finalizing the launch for the Twin Islands and South Caicos. We are looking forward to their launch this weekend. We thank our team in the Public Works Department and the District Commissioners for their time and dedication to launching this Program.”
To register, persons are required to provide one form of photo identification, which can include: (passport, driving license, TCI Status Card and in the case of a previous convictions, registration with the Chance for Change program).
Government stated that although the program is underway, there was still time to take advantage of this opportunity. Persons are encouraged to register with the nearest Public Works Department or District Commissioner’s Office on their respective island, as soon as possible.
