28-Year-old Killed In Traffic Mishap

Man Arrested On Suspicion Released

One man was killed and another man arrested and released arising from a traffic accident that reportedly took place in the vicinity of the Grant’s Texaco Service Station along the Leeward Highway in Providenciales late Friday night.

Neither the names of the deceased nor the man said to be responsible was released at post time.

Police reports are that at about 11:23 p.m., multiple calls were made to the Police Control Room that a male in his late 20s was hit by a black SUV.

Officers and medical personnel, who were dispatched to the scene, arrived on the scene and saw a man lying on the ground in an unconscious state.

The man was taken to the Cheshire Hall Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the black SUV was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was released on bail.

Acting Commissioner of Police Kendall Grant expressed condolences to the family of the man.

“On behalf of the Force Executive Team and the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, I would like to express condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. My prayer for you is that God gives you comfort and strength in your time of grief”, Commissioner Grant said.

The Police Traffic Unit is investigating this incident.
