Apprehended Escapee Returns To Prison

Johnie Adescat, who escaped from Her Majesty Prison in Grand Turk last week, was apprehended early Friday morning July 2, during a predawn operation in the Snake Hill Settlement in Providenciales.

The operation, carried out by the Tactical Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, took place at about 2:23 a.m.


At 4:30 p.m., on July 2, the Tactical Unit Officers escorted Adescat to Grand Turk and handed him over to prison officials, where additional investigations are expected to be carried out.

Superintendent of Police and Head of Special Operations Martyn Ball said, "This was great work by our officers from the early hours when Adescat was apprehended to his transfer back to Grand Turk. The operation was conducted without serious incidents, and I want to congratulate the officers on their professionalism. I want to encourage them to maintain their professionalism as we try to keep the communities of the Turks and Caicos Islands safe and secure."


Prison officials did not give details as to under what circumstance Adescat escaped. It is also unclear as to what means of transportation the escapee used to depart the capital for Providenciales.
