The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) has moved to correct what it describes as misleading information circulating in the public domain regarding a recent incident involving the discovery of ammunition in the possession of a police officer.
In a media release issued today, the RT&CIPF confirmed that the officer charged in connection with the matter is not a member of the contingent of officers recently deployed to the Turks and Caicos Islands to support crime-fighting efforts.
Police said any suggestion or reporting linking the charged officer to the deployed unit is “incorrect and unfounded.”
The clarification comes amid growing public discussion surrounding the role of external officers assisting local law enforcement, particularly as authorities continue efforts to combat serious crime across the islands.
The RT&CIPF emphasized that all officers—whether local or deployed—are held to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
“Allegations of misconduct are treated with the utmost seriousness and are thoroughly investigated,” the statement noted.
The RT&CIPF also urged members of the public and media practitioners to refrain from spreading unverified information, warning that doing so can undermine public confidence and ongoing investigations.
