RADIO TURKS AND CAICOS MODERNIZES FOR “VISUAL RADIO”

Radio Turks and Caicos (RTC) is embarking on a strategic evolution to transform the national listening experience into a high-definition visual journey. Following a research mission at the 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas, RTC is preparing to invest in state-of-the-art broadcasting and editing systems.

This modernization initiative is designed to ensure that our valued listeners can see the stories they love, creating a more connected and interactive media landscape for every citizen.

As part of this transition, RTC has already secured professional RØDE mixing gear and microphones to enhance the quality of outside broadcasts. To further this vision, the organization intends to secure Blackmagic Design hardware and the DaVinci Resolve editing suite. These tools will elevate the broadcaster’s output, enabling the development of live video nightly news and enhanced social media content that meets international standards.

Beyond technology, 2026 marks a revival of community programming. Listeners have already welcomed the return of Teen Jam, with the relaunch of the beloved Kids Club featuring five local primary schools coming soon. Additionally, A Child’s Life with Mrs. Yolanda Robinson returns, while Sports on the Go will provide daily World Cup highlights.

Lastly, supporters can look forward to “Phase One” of Nightly News Live, bringing the day’s stories to life with crystal-clear visuals and studio-grade sound.

“Our goal for the next 50 years is to ensure RTC is a visual experience for everyone who relies on us,” said Director Christopher Jarrett. “Our residents want to be seen as well as heard, and we are building a new framework to bring radio and television together for our community. We sincerely thank the Ministry specifically Minister Hon. E. Jay Saunders and PS Ms. Tamera Howell-Robinson as well as the entire RTC team for their support in making this vision a reality.”

The future of RTC is designed specifically for the people, featuring a strengthened RTC App (available on iOS and Android) and a fully redeveloped website, www.rtc89fm.com, launching this May. These platforms will provide the public with easier access to podcasts, missed stories, and new interactive ways for local businesses to reach the community.
