REGISTRAR’S NOTICE NO. 11 OF 2021
NOTICE TO ALL ATTORNEYS
PRACTISING CERTIFICATES
By section 10. (1) of the Legal Profession Ordinance, an Attorney who desires to practise law in any year shall apply in the prescribed form to the Registrar for a practising certificate.
Any Attorney who practises without a valid practising certificate is in breach of S. 12(1)(a) of the Legal Profession Ordinance and is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction to a fine of $5,000 and to a further fine of $500 for every day on which the offence continues after conviction thereof, and to imprisonment for a period of six months, or both.
Please be reminded, that practising certificates that were issued in 2021 will expire on 31st January, 2022.
Submit Applications by Email
All applications for practising certificates, along with proof of payment of the prescribed fee, must be sent by email to the Registrar at email address supremecourttci@gov.tc.
All forms must be submitted by email only with subject: “Application for practising certificate [name]” e.g. Application for practising certificate – John Brown
Payment of Fees
The fees prescribed by Regulation 7 of the Legal Profession (Practising Certificate) Regulations are as follows:
Applications made between 1st January and 31st October $50.00

We will not be accepting cheques or cash payments. Please make payments directly to the Treasury. Firstly, request a payment voucher by sending an email to courtpay@gov.tc only. Then, once payment has been made to the Treasury, please send the paid receipt along with the completed application form to email address supremecourttci@gov.tc. Remember, you can make payments to the Treasury by bank transfer.
Please submit your application for renewal by 21st January, 2022 to allow sufficient time for it to be processed before 31st January, 2021.
