TCI Records 35th COVID-19 related death

The InterHealth Canada-run Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital is reporting a 35th COVID-19 related death.


TCI Hospital said the latest victim was an elderly patient with chronic medical conditions. It said she passed away at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre in Providenciales on Thursday, February 3rd.


“The patient was unvaccinated. The next of kin have been notified,” a news release from TCI Hospital said.


“The Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital and the Ministry of Health and Human Services wish to extend our deepest condolences to the grieving family and friends on the unfortunate loss of their loved one.


“The Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital and the Ministry of Health wish to remind the general public to practice the relevant public health measures to suppress the spread of COVID-19,” the TCI Hospital statement continued.


The news release added: “If you have symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, please take all safety precautions and stay at home unless you are seeking to take a COVID-19 test.


“For further information, please contact the Ministry of Health COVID-19 Hotlines on 232-9444 or 333-0911. If your symptoms are severe, please call 911. All persons are encouraged to strongly consider taking the COVID19 vaccine and if eligible, the booster shot.”
