The Turks and Caicos Islands are returning to full activity following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, which caused no effects on the country except for brief light showers.

The Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) issued the “All Clear” for all islands at 6:00 a.m. today, confirming that the system has safely moved away from the TCI.

Except for light showers, which lasted less than 10 minutes, there was nothing else to report. The country is now experiencing bright sunshine and clear skies.

Government Services Resume

The Office of the Deputy Governor announced that full government operations will resume Friday, October 31, 2025. However, a number of departments reopened today at 12:00 p.m.

These include the Treasury and Revenue Control Units across all islands. The Ministry of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development and the Road Safety Department have also reopened throughout the islands. Border Force units are once again operating at airports, seaports, transit sheds, customer service centres, and container units in Grand Turk and Providenciales, as well as at the Kings Warehouse in South Caicos and in North Caicos.

Customer service departments and employment services in Grand Turk and Providenciales have resumed operations. Citizenship and Naturalisation services and the Registrar General’s Office are also open. Clinics under the Ministry of Health throughout the islands have resumed services, along with the Office of the Governor and the Office of the Deputy Governor.

Airports Reopen

The Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) confirmed that airport operations have resumed today following the all-clear advisory. Travelers are encouraged to check with their airlines for flight updates.

Hospital Services Back in Operation

InterHealth Canada confirmed that routine medical services have resumed at both the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre (Providenciales) and Cockburn Town Medical Centre (Grand Turk) from 9:00 a.m. today.

Hospital management noted that staff will also contact patients directly to assist with rescheduling and encouraged the public to ensure their contact details are up to date. The TCI Hospital Management thanked the community for its patience and cooperation.
